Load Management Software For Dry-Bulk
Vessels By Autoship Systems Creates Waves
Autoship Systems Corporation (ASC) of Vancouver,
Canada has recently released Autoload/Bulk 6.0
- a loading instrument software with specific features
tailored to meet key requirements of dry-bulk cargo
vessels. Autoload/Bulk has features that will
improve load management efficiency, increase safety
of operation, plus help meet Class requirements and
local jurisdiction environmental regulations.

Autoload/Bulk 6.0 - Main Screen
Product Features
Autoload/Bulk 6.0 has a very well laid out graphical
use interface that clearly displays strength and stability,
allows easy tank management, and has vessel views that
are both realistic and precise. The strength and stability
information to be displayed may be configured by the
user. In addition, the user has the option to have the
data updated either automatically or on demand. The
Autoload/Bulk 6.0 tank and weight dialogues are
logical in their function, and very easy to use. Sensor
connections (if fitted) can be used to update tank data
automatically. Dry-bulk weight data includes cargo properties
such as stowage factor. However, what really makes Autoload/Bulk
6.0 a program for bulk operators are the following new
features:
- Loading And Unloading Sequence Development
Loading and unloading sequence of tanks and
holds can be readily prepared far in advance of actual
loading or unloading, thus ensuring that all pertinent
stability and strength limits are not exceeded during
the actual loading/unloading process. Any number of
steps may be included in the sequence. Edit, save
and report functions are complete and easy to use.
- Ballast Exchange Preparation
Ballasting sequence can be easily setup, all the while
monitoring strength and stability parameters. Easy to
use editing, saving and reporting functions are included.
- Longitudinal Strength Curves Always Visible
LS strength curves of bending moment and shear force
along with the respective limit curves are superimposed
on a profile of the vessel. Because they are always
visible, a problem can be readily seen.
- Bulkhead Shear Force Correction
Shear force correction is calculated for double-bottom
vessels and alternative hold loading as per DNV and
Lloyd's Register requirements.
- Damage Stability Assessment
Single and multi-hold damage stability is assessed in
real-time, taking into account cargo permeability.
It is also important to note that Autoload/Bulk
is a true first principles program - unlike some of
its competitors. The unique hydrostatic engine of Autoload/Bulk
6.0 ensures that all stability data at any angle of
heel and trim are fully accurate. Many of Autoload's
competitors are only first principles with respect to
a vessel's hull, and not its tanks.
These features translate into
the following benefits:
Improve Load Management Efficiency
The accurate, easy to develop loading and unloading
sequence and ballast exchange functions ensure smooth
operation with predictable results.
Increase Safety Of Operation
During the development of a loading/unloading sequence,
the user creates a series of steps defining the loading
changes. At each step, the program displays all key
stability and strength values. In addition, the program
graphically displays the longitudinal strength curve.
These features allow the user to develop and monitor
safe vessel conditions at all times.
-
Meet Local Jurisdiction Environmental And Class
Regulatory Requirements
Autoload 6.0's ballast exchange function allows
the user to develop accurate ballasting/de-ballasting
operations that will meet local jurisdiction ballast
regulatory requirements whilst still ensuring that vessel
stability and strength parameters remain within acceptable
limits. Bulkhead shear force correction, as well as
single and multi-hold damage assessment functions are
key in helping the program user develop vessel conditions
that meet Class requirements.
Who's Buying Autoload
6.0?
Since its release a few months ago, Autoload/Bulk
6.0 has already been sold to COSCO of China for installation
in two new Lloyd's Class bulk carrier vessels. Autoload/Bulk
is Type Approved.
