Steamship Lines buys ASC's LPS-Bulk
May 31, 2003
Autoship Systems Corporation (ASC) is pleased to announce
that Canada Steamship Lines (CSL) of Montreal, Quebec
has purchased LPS-Bulk for the recently refitted M/V
Atlantic Huron.
This new sale increases to 21 the number of cargo vessels
now operating LPS-Bulk in the Great Lakes region. Algoma
Central Marine and Upper Lakes Group, both of St. Catharines
Ontario, make up the balance of the installations.
LPS/Bulk includes two modules: a bulk load planning
module and a Lloyd's and DNV type approved hydrostatic
engine. The system loads cargo in the load planning
module, while managing tanks and monitoring both stability
and longitudinal strength in the hydrostatic module.
A real-time interface between these two modules ensures
that hydrostatic data always reflects current cargo
weight distribution. LPS/Bulk output includes loading/unloading
sequence, cargo lineup, and full stability and strength
reports.
Canada
Steamship Lines is part of the CSL Group, which
includes CSL International of Beverly, MA. Together,
the two companies control the largest fleet of self-unloading
vessels in the world.
