Four
More LPS-Bulk In Seaway Marine Transport Fleet
Autoship Systems Corporation (ASC) of Vancouver, Canada
is pleased to announce that it has just completed four
more installations of LPS-Bulk load planning software
in the Seaway Marine Transport (SMT) fleet. The vessels
are: Canadian Transport, Canadian Enterprise, Canadian
Transfer and Canadian Olympic. With these vessels, the
total number of LPS-Bulk SMT installations to date is
25.
LPS-Bulk is a bulk cargo planning system. Cargo is
loaded taking into account material properties including
angle of repose and density. A real-time link with a
Lloyd's and DNV type approved loading instrument software
ensures that the vessel's allowable stability and strength
limits are not exceeded.
Tom Anderson, Director, Ports and Navigation, says:
"With our standardizing on LPS-Bulk, we are able
to maximize the efficient and safe use of our fleet
of gearless bulk ships and self-unloaders. In the office,
LPS-Bulk is very useful in the bulk shipment bidding
process, as the program accurately and quickly estimates
bulk cargo carrying capacities. Onboard, LPS-Bulk is
key in developing safe and effective loading and unloading
sequences."
Seaway Marine Transport of St. Catharine's Ontario,
Canada manages the largest and most versatile fleet
of self-unloading vessels and the largest fleet of gearless
bulk carriers operating on the Great Lakes, St Lawrence
River and the waters of eastern Canada. Seaway Marine
Transport's modern fleet of ships presently includes
20 self-unloaders and 15 gearless bulk carriers. For
